Location: Redmond, OR

Pay: $20.47

Purpose of Position:
The Airport Custodian I is responsible for performing custodial duties to maintain the Airport Terminal, Snow Removal Equipment (SRE) building, and general facility maintenance of terminal grounds and vehicle parking lots.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Clean floors and carpeting, wash interior and exterior windows and glass doors, sanitize restrooms, pick up and remove trash, clean furniture, dust surfaces, wash walls, and pressure wash sidewalks weekly.
  • Perform outdoor cleanup tasks on Airport property, including vehicle parking areas, right-of-way on Airport roads, terminal, and SRE building grounds.
  • Perform minor building maintenance as required.
  • Operate a motor vehicle occasionally for building maintenance needs.
  • Perform winter maintenance duties at the terminal, including snow removal from sidewalks, sanding walks during icy conditions, monitoring icy and unsafe road conditions, and sweeping sand from walks after storms.
  • Promote an effective, responsive, and value-based organizational culture.
  • Perform baggage handling system reset when bag jams occur in the baggage screening area.
  • Comply with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations and security responsibilities.

Job Qualification Requirements:

  • Mandatory Requirements: High school diploma or GED equivalent, plus 12 months of verifiable work experience in commercial custodial work. Knowledge of supplies, materials, and equipment used in commercial custodial work. Ability to pass and maintain continuous successful FBI and TSA background checks. Ability to understand and execute complex oral and written instructions, maintain confidentiality, deal effectively with frequent interruptions, establish priorities, and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Special Requirements/Licenses: Valid Oregon driver's license within 30 days of hire and a safe driving record.
  • Desirable Requirements: Two years or more of verifiable custodian work experience in an airport environment, commercial custodian work experience, work experience in a City/County government setting, and First Aid/CPR certification within six months of employment.
Supervision Received:
Work is performed as part of a work crew often without direct supervision after assignment of duties. The employee generally works under the indirect supervision of the Operations and Maintenance Manager and the direct supervision of the Airport Facilities Supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position is not a supervisory position but may assist in direction, guidance, or training in operational procedures to other employees.

Physical Demands:
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally team lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision and hearing abilities are required.

Tools and Equipment Used:
Hand power tools, heavy custodian floor maintenance equipment, paint equipment, ATV for sanding walks, small snowplow, power broom, mobile radio, aviation radio, Kubota tractors, backpack blowers, pressure washers, and City vehicles.

Work Environment:
The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, in high and precarious places, and is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. The noise level can be moderate to loud.

Must be available to work all shifts : Day Shift- 4am-1pm, 6am-3pm, 7am-4pm Night Shift- 3pm-12am, 4pm-1am, 5pm-2am, must be available to do all shifts 2 months at a time.
