This is a delivery position responsible for driving a tractor-trailer to deliver and unload various products for Sysco customers. This requires using excellent customer service skills and working under state and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and Sysco safety preferred work methods. Overtime hours, working weekends and holidays, and starting at various early morning start times are required to successfully meet customers’ needs. Responsibilities include delivering product within assigned route schedule and time windows, unloading product from trailer by hand or using a hand cart, frequently lifting and moving product weighing 1-75 pounds (up to 100 pounds), verifying delivery with customers, collecting money where required, performing pre-trip and post-trip responsibilities following DOT regulations, completing DOT logs and vehicle maintenance reports, following SyscoSafe preferred work methods, maintaining sanitary conditions in tractor and trailer, and attending all required company meetings. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, 2 years local food or beverage delivery experience preferred, valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License with a clean driving record, 1-year commercial driving experience, and ability to pass pre-employment testing. Professional skills required include operating vehicle in various conditions, strong customer relations, planning and organizing work independently, and basic math skills. Competencies include building customer loyalty, managing work, adaptability, building trust, follow-up, and communication.
