About the Role
The Company is in search of a strategic and collaborative leader to serve as the Dean of the College of Fine Arts. The successful candidate will be the chief academic and administrative officer, responsible for guiding long-term strategy, ensuring excellence in teaching, scholarship, and creative work, and overseeing the operations of a diverse collection of programs, centers, and public-facing venues. The College of Fine Arts at the company is dedicated to providing a comprehensive education in the visual and performing arts, with a strong emphasis on creative inquiry, hands-on practice, professional excellence, and public engagement. The Dean will be expected to have a broad understanding of the arts and a sophisticated grasp of the arts professions, with a terminal degree in a relevant discipline and a record of scholarly, creative, or professional contributions. Candidates for the Dean position should be prepared to lead a college that is home to the School of Art, School of Music, and Department of Theatre and Dance, serving over 1,600 students and supported by a faculty and staff of approximately 185 and 24, respectively. The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader who can nurture the college's nationally recognized programs and foster an environment where students can develop into thinkers, responsible citizens, and motivated artists. The role requires a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and the ability to work with professionally connected faculty artists to inspire and challenge students through individualized training. The Dean will also be instrumental in enhancing the college's cultural assets and performance spaces, contributing to the company's reputation as a regional and national destination for the arts.
