Franchise Business Consultant, Non-Traditional

The Franchise Business Consultant, Non-Traditional (FBCNT) serves as a strategic field leader responsible for protecting and elevating the QDOBA brand across smaller traditional franchise systems and non-traditional operating environments. This role supports traditional franchisees typically operating three or fewer restaurants, as well as non-traditional operations, including QDOBA restaurants located on college and university campuses, military bases, airports, stadiums, travel centers, hospitals, and other licensed or venue-based environments. The FBCNT performs the same core functions as a Franchise Business Consultant, with added complexity related to venue constraints, contract requirements, and partner operating models. This role partners closely with franchise owners, license partners, contractors, and venue stakeholders to ensure operational excellence, organizational health, and sustainable brand performance. The FBCNT is accountable for reinforcing QDOBA brand standards, procedures, and systems, while driving disciplined execution of the operations strategy with focused emphasis on People, Hospitality, Culinary, and Off-Premise excellence. Acting as both coach and consultant, the FBCNT balances support with accountability, while respecting joint-employer boundaries, to deliver consistent guest experiences and long-term partner success.

Key Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Protects the integrity of the QDOBA brand by ensuring consistent execution of brand standards, procedures, and operating systems across non-traditional and assigned traditional restaurants.
  • Serves as a brand standards, procedures, and systems expert, supporting partners in navigating venue-specific constraints while maintaining brand integrity.
  • Conducts regular operational visits and assessments; provides clear written and verbal feedback with actionable improvement plans.
  • Ensures excellence in Hospitality, Culinary execution, food safety, cleanliness, accuracy, and speed of service within varied operating environments.
  • Ensures effective execution of national promotions, local marketing initiatives, new product rollouts, and operational process changes.
  • Acts as the primary liaison between QDOBA and non-traditional franchisees, contractors, and license partners, connecting partners with appropriate brand resources and subject matter experts.
  • Coaches franchise owners, license partners, and restaurant leadership teams to strengthen leadership capability and execution while maintaining appropriate joint-employer boundaries.
  • Ensures partners are effectively utilizing QDOBA people, training, and performance systems that support a healthy culture and consistent execution.
  • Supports identification, readiness, and ongoing oversight of Certified Training Restaurants.
  • Provides guidance and support for New Restaurant Openings, including pre-opening readiness, training systems, food safety, and execution at standard.
  • Evaluates partner performance using QDOBA systems and metrics; consults to improve sales, transactions, and profitability.
  • Conducts annual Business Reviews with assigned franchise and license partners.
  • Partners cross-functionally with Operations, Training, Development, Marketing, Supply Chain, Design, and Construction teams.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of evaluations, correspondence, and action plans; ensures compliance with brand and food safety requirements.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; business, hospitality, or related field preferred. Valid Food Safety certification required or ability to obtain.

Experience: 5+ years of multi-unit restaurant operations or franchise/licensed operations experience. Non-traditional or licensed restaurant experience strongly preferred.

Skills/Abilities: Deep operational knowledge of restaurant systems and brand standards; strong understanding of franchise, license, and contractor operating models; ability to influence without authority; strong financial acumen; excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills; high integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment; ability to work effectively in fast-paced, highly variable operating environments. Requires proficient knowledge of personal computers and related software applications, e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to speak and hear clearly in person and on the telephone.
  • Ability to operate a computer, including desktop, laptop, or tablet devices.
  • Ability to travel extensively as business needs require.
