Job Title: Garage Mechanic
Job Description

The Garage Mechanic is responsible for performing maintenance, service, and repair of diesel/gas-powered trucks and equipment. This role requires the execution of all duties of a skilled mechanic, either in the shop or in the field.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
• Ensure the engine and other vital parts are in proper operating condition.
• Utilize hand tools and power tools, such as pneumatic wrenches, cordless tools, welding equipment, and hoists.
• Examine and adjust protective guards and specified safety devices.
• Perform routine maintenance including changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
• Test drive trucks and heavy equipment to diagnose malfunctions or ensure proper operation.
• Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications.
• Diagnose malfunctions in defective equipment using test instruments like multimeters, schematics, or pressure gauges.
• Repair or replace wiring, lights, and instrument panels.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle heating and cooling systems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in mechanical, hydraulic, and diesel systems.
• Ability to inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
• Skilled in using both hand tools and power tools, such as pneumatic wrenches, cordless tools, welding equipment, and hoists.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in facilities maintenance.
• Competence in electrical troubleshooting.

Work Environment

Work takes place primarily indoors in a garage-like setting. The environment is hot, with a busy schedule in the summer that slows down in the winter.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Louisville, Kentucky.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
