HEAVY EQUIPMENT & FLEET MECHANIC
Location: Wasatch County, Utah
Employment Type: Full-Time
We are seeking a skilled and experienced heavy equipment/diesel mechanic to join our team.
Our fleet includes Caterpillar, Hitachi, LinkBelt, Volvo, and Deere equipment. Equipment operations are essential to the success of our projects, and as such our mechanics play a critical role helping things move forward smoothly and productively.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Heavy Equipment and Fleet Mechanic, you’ll play a key role in keeping our operation running smoothly. You’ll work closely with the Equipment manager and jobsite teams to diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of equipment and vehicles.
• Complete scheduled maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment and trucks
• Respond to on-site equipment breakdowns and emergency service calls
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues
• Document work performed using our digital fleet management system
• Coordinate with fleet manager to order necessary parts
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe
• Perform field repairs using a fully equipped service truck
• Support shop staff and collaborate with field crews
• Assist with inspections and fleet tracking as needed
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
We’re looking for a skilled mechanic with a strong background in fleet maintenance and heavy construction equipment.
Required Skills & Experience:• 5+ years of hands-on mechanic experience
• Proficiency in servicing and repairing:
- Excavators, dozers, loaders, and compactors
- Dump trucks, tractors, and trailers
- Pickup trucks (diesel and gas)
- Small engines and power tools
• Ability to troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, fuel, and air systems
• Experience with diagnostics and electronic control systems
• Must have own basic tools
• Ability to work independently and efficiently in changing environments
Preferred (but not required):
• CDL, ASE, or other certifications
• Welding and fabrication experience
• Familiarity with software like diesel laptops
