Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Design Engineer

Location : York, PA area

Summary:

Our client is a custom equipment manufacturer and is looking to add a skilled Mechanical Engineer to design and develop customized industrial equipment. This role involves close collaboration with our in-house fabrication shop and cross-functional teams, including sales, applications, and electrical engineering, to ensure designs meet technical specifications and customer requirements.

Responsibilities :

• Mechanical Design : Create mechanical designs using SolidWorks, including sheet metal components, for custom industrial equipment.
• Component Selection : Size and select mechanical components such as motors, actuators, gears, and bearings for motion control and automation systems.
• BOM Generation : Develop Bill of Materials (BOM) for projects, ensuring all parts and assemblies are accounted for.
• Assembly Drawings : Produce detailed assembly drawings and documentation for fabrication and production.
• Automation & Motion Control : Understand automation systems and integrate mechanical components that support motion control, including drives and sensors.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work closely with the fabrication team and coordinate with the sales, applications, and electrical engineers to ensure equipment is designed to specifications and manufacturability.

Key Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design for industrial or custom equipment.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks, with experience in sheet metal design.
• Experience with automation and motion control systems.
• Experience in sizing and selecting mechanical components, generating BOMs, and creating assembly drawings.
• Excellent collaboration skills across departments, especially with fabrication and electrical teams.
