Position Summary:

The Plant Operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the asphalt plant.

Essential Functions:

  • Adheres to all safety rules, wears proper PPE at all times, and works safely on all jobs.
  • Operates the designated asphalt plant daily.
  • Serves as the primary operator responsible for overseeing and managing operations during the shift, ensuring efficient production of asphalt materials.
  • Handles processing of orders and provides customer service.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on the plant.
  • Orders supplies and monitors fuel levels.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to stand for up to 10/12 hours (rest breaks as required by law will be provided); use hands; handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; walk; climb stairs, ladders, and catwalks; stoop, bend, twist, kneel, and crouch.
  • Reports immediately to the Plant Manager any equipment damage, safety hazards, or accidents.
  • Must be able to consistently lift and/or manipulate, with push/pull force, approximately 50 pounds.
  • Flexibility regarding the schedule, including early and/or extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with asphalt plant operations.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, with welding and cutting experience.
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Proficiency with computers and related software.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be highly motivated and able to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Must pass a physical examination and drug screening.
