Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Acute Epilepsy Monitoring position requiring Level 1 trauma experience and Arizona or compact RN license.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

• Work in the Neuro Acute Epilepsy Monitoring unit within an acute hospital setting
• Unit features 48 beds including 10 epilepsy specialty rooms
• Handles a range of neurological patients including epilepsy, brain tumors, subdural hematomas, scoliosis surgeries, TBI, and other neuro diagnoses
• Telemetry and Med/Surg patient care required
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 for both days and nights
• Day shifts are 12 hours (7am-7pm), with self-scheduling and weekend coverage required for 3 shifts per 4 weeks
• Possible floating to Med/Surg and Telemetry floors
• Use of Cerner EMR
• Equipment includes telemetry monitors and Bipap, with RT managing vents
• Charge nurse and resource RN available on every shift, as well as PCT support
• Orientation includes two floor shifts and a 12-hour hospital orientation
• Work requires integration into the holiday rotation
• Responsibilities include caring for epilepsy monitoring patients, performing neurological assessments, and monitoring telemetry
• Must demonstrate strong critical thinking and assessment skills to detect subtle patient changes
• Competency in sterile technique is strictly enforced during orientation SIMs Lab
• Orientation pass/fail lab includes Foley catheter and central line dressing changes
• Scrub color is Greys Anatomy steel
• No artificial hair color or facial piercings allowed; men must be clean shaven for fit testing
• Includes use of self-releasing velcro seat belts and wound care procedures
• Holiday and weekend rotations are required
• Candidates with employment at any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past year are not eligible
• First-day SIMs Lab has a pass/fail requirement, and failing the skills or dysrhythmia exam twice will result in disqualification for 6 months in the region

\n \n Requirements\n

• Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Level 1 trauma experience is mandatory
• Ability to pass pre-hire dysrhythmia exam (Relias) and sterile technique testing for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
• Must provide driver’s license for verification
• Compliant with a 50-mile radius rule based on permanent residence
• Two references required, including one from a supervisor within the past 12 months and one from a peer or supervisor within the past 3 years
