NOTE : Maximum range is provided as an example of the wage/salary range for each position and its earning capacity given factors such as time in position, longevity with the company education level, and performance experience. Newly entering employees should expect to enter at the minimum to midrange level, and not the cap which is for employees with tenure and above level skill sets in that position.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

To provide transition services to exiting military personnel and their families; perform community outreach and employment services, and establish partnerships with local community resource organizations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides transitional assistance to exiting active Military, Reserve, and National Guard personnel. Establishes outreach services with local military installations. evelops and distributes outreach materials to recruit veterans into Tierney Center for Veteran Services (TCVS) program. The specific focus of outreach is on the Integration model and other veteran community services. Enroll veterans and their families into Warrior Serve dates base and ensures accurate data entry. Provides training and information to community agencies regarding Community Integration model and other veteran community services. Meet or exceed required outreach metrics. Develops and maintains working relationships with community agencies, service members, transitioning warriors, and their families.

Maintains clear, standardized records of veterans served and results. Organizes and participates in community activities and events that have high visibility for service members, transitioning warriors, and their families, such as Yellow Ribbon events, community gatherings, local government flag raisings, etc. Assists service members, transitioning warriors, and their families understand, apply for, and utilize their benefits. Works overtime as needed. Drives on company business. Performs other job-related duties as required. Safeguards company property, including donated goods. Reports any incidents of theft or unauthorized possession of company property. Acts safely at all times, following all safety rules and regulations. Follows all company policies and procedures. Promotes and demonstrates cooperation and teamwork. Assists and shares knowledge and information with other employees as needed. Uses good interpersonal skills such as courtesy, sensitivity, politeness, and thoughtfulness. Works with, trains, and/or acts as a good example for program participants receiving training at Goodwill.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred, e.g., human services, social work, or equivalent experience. Prior experience in community outreach and placement services. Prior military service preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills. Effective grammar, English, and writing skills. PC Proficiency in MS Office. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to accept responsibility, take initiative, problem-solve and exercise good judgment. Ability to be flexible and adaptable in handling interruptions and variation. Reliable transportation, a valid California driver’s license, and auto liability insurance acceptable to Goodwill’s insurance company.
